Why is kded taking 87% of my CPU?

What is kded? I killed it with no problems afterward, then my cpu went to a reasonable level. Is it a necessary process?

2 seconds or so. First I thought I'd try KDE, but then again, Google does it faster most of the time.

I don't understand what that all means.

IIUC, kded is the KDE daemon. It launches KDE components such as kat. With that said, kat was using up your resources. Removing it would solve the trouble .

HTH,
