tiny Mandriva KDE 2010 trash can

Hi all,
Recently I just noticed that when ever I try to dump something into the trash it tells me to empty it first..Even when I do empty it still a 670 mb .iso file is too big..

Is there a way to check what the capacity is, or even better, correct what is wrong?
I am curious, does anyone else have this problem?
Thank you,
jolphil

This may not directly answer your question, but if you simply want to delete an .iso file (or any file for that matter) directly without putting it into the trash can first, you can select the file to be deleted, then use the SHIFT+DELETE keyboard combination to delete the file. Be careful when using this keyboard combination because it will delete the selected file (or all selected files) from you hard drive. It will be very difficult or impossible to recover any inadvertently deleted file(s).

HTH,

Thanks Ernie,
I still would like to find out if this is a bug or something wrong with my 2010 version..Possibly one of the many many updates did it because I do not recall it being that way when it was first installed..

Try opening the trash can and deleting the contents (if any) manually. I checked, and my trashcan widget (located on my task bar) works as expected here. FWIW, I use KDE-4.4.2 (the version that will release with Mandriva 2010.1 (Spring)), and my experience may be different from yours if you use KDE-4.3.2, (the version shipped with Mandriva 2010.0).

If you can not find a fix for your issue, you may want to go to a KDE mirror near your geographical location and get the newer version. Depending on your computer's platform (i586 or x86_64), the Mandriva packages are located under the stable tree at ~stable/4.4.2/Mandriva/2010.0/i586 or ~stable/4.4.2/Mandriva/2010.0/x86_64, and uses the standard format for urpmi.addmedia, so the command line to add the media source would be something like:

Code:
i586:

urpmi.addmedia KDE-4.4.2 ftp://kde.mirrors.tds.net/pub/kde/stable/4.4.2/Mandriva/2010.0/i586 with media_info/hdlist.cz
Code:
x86_64:

urpmi.addmedia KDE-4.4.2 ftp://kde.mirrors.tds.net/pub/kde/stable/4.4.2/Mandriva/2010.0/x86_64 with media_info/hdlist.cz
Note:
1. If you use the 64 bit Mandriva OS, you can add the 32 bit KDE media source along side the 64 bit source if you give it a different name, such as KDE-4.4.2-x32 because each media source on your system must have a unique name. You would do this only if you use 32 but software that depends on 32 bit KDE packages.

You should be able to change the configuration of the waste bin by right clicking the trash icon.
