Strange Internet Problem w/ 9.1

I have had Mandrake 9.1 up and running since it first came out. It was my first time using anything linux, and I have became quite familiar with most everything. I used earthlink as my Internet provider (dial-up) and everything worked perfectly. I recently switched to bellsouth, and now I can't go any where. I can get connected to the internet., but none of the browsers will open any webpages. I connect at a good connection rate of 50.6 and everything seems to be working perfectly, but just can't open any pages. I noticed mozilla says resolving host then the name of the website I am trying to open in the lower left hand corner. Then it eventually gives me an error saying that this is an unknown host. I am using kppp to dial up. I tried to ping some different sites, but it came back as an unknown host. I have read about editing a couple different files in /etc, but I really don't know how to do this or what to put in them. I am using a lucent winmodem to dial up, and it has always worked great in the past. I am using it under windows xp right now. I am dual booting xp and mandrake. Any help as to what I need to do would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

when you first start up kppp
there is a SetUp tab

Yes, I looked around in there just a little while before I uninstalled kppp. I had the bright idea to unistall kppp, and then reinstall it to see if it had any effect on my problem, and guess what it did. I am connected to bellsouth using mandrake 9.1 as I type. Thanks for your reply. I suppose something didn't install properly the first time around with kppp. I have another problem though. While I was poking around trying to figure out my internet problem I must have turned something off that I don't remember. The little music deal that plays when KDE is started and when you log out of KDE no longer works, or doesn't play I should say. Have any Ideas? Thanks in advance.
