I'm trying to install mandriva 2006 on my computer, but for whatever reason it doesn't see two of my hard disks. it wants to combine them it seems and tells me it's corrupt.
My setup is as follows.
160 GB Maxtor Hard Disk (SATA) (Storage)
120 GB WD Hard Disk (SATA) (WindowsXP)
120 GB WD Hard Disk (SATA) (Mandriva2005)
40 GB External 2.5" Samsung Disk (USB2.0) (Storage)
Nforce4 Motherboard (Chaintech VNF4 Ultra)
It claims that there is something wrong and it asks me if i wish to attempt a repair (aka--format all offending disks) or just continue. So of course I click continue.
When I go to partition the discs, the Maxtor Hard Disk shows up just fine and it shows partitions as they should be. Then the next tab says "nvidia-3fjkafa" or something similar and it reports the disk size is 234 GB (seeming to want to do RAID with my hard disks--though I have raid disabled). And my USB isn't even shown.
What can I do to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I want to try 2006 out badly.
ok, i fixed it. i simply had to remove the offending windows hard disk, then install and readd it. up and running with Mandy06. It boots so fast. I'm thankful just for that update.
I can see the windows disk just fine on 2005, so I do not see why i would be unable to on 2006.
But yeah, the sata drivers seem to be a little flaky, I am still unable to have two of the exact same disk on the PC at once, or it sees them as ONE large disk. I'll keep working on it an keep you updated.
