Printer stopped working

My printer has stopped working under Linux Mandrake 10.1 but ok in Win98.HardDrak does not solve the problem.

Any help much appreciated.

Well I reinstalled Linux Mandrale 10.1 but did not reformat my home directory.The printer did not work although it did before the reinstallation.Using hard drake says the printer has been detected and configured but that it will not autostart on reboot.Also my sound doesnt work.

Sorry again, you haven't really supplied us with any information.

e.g.

What is the exact configuration of your machine?

What motherboard, chipset, video card, memory, Lan, sound card, etc...

What type of printer?

How is it connected to the computer? USB? LPT?

If LPT: how is the LPT port set up in the BIOS?

What does dmesg say? (Post the output of dmesg)

etc.

My printer is now working ok.I used Harddrake again and this time it configured the printer ok even though it did hang for a long time.Your time is not wasted though because with all help advice I learn a bit more.
