Unhappy mandrake menu trashed - menudrake does not fix it nor update it

a little while ago, my menu got knocked out after i did an install (mandrake 9.0 with all the updates) and i ran the menu drake program, pressed save and it fixed the problem

well a little later on (a few weeks) i thought i'd add a few more (but unnecessary) things like mmx add-on's and other things

same thing happened, except now my menu system is even more trashed and from what i can make of it, even if i add an entry to menudrake it does not even make the update, does not correct the problem

initially, i noticed that even the menu icons were missing but after a reboot at least they came back even though they might be incorrect (most of them look like folders)

what's happened and even more importantly, what can i do about

sorry but a complete reinstall is just too drastic

thanks, any and all help greatly apprecated as i'm sure i'm not the only one running into this

thanks

- perry

I had a problem with menudrake not updating my menu I solved it by selecting "Menu Style" and then mandrake menu not system admin.
