After using MenuDrake, all my items in my Gnome Menu are gone :(

Hello,
I'm using MDK 9.1, I opened MenuDrake to add a new item.
But once I save it, everything was gone in my menu... And I'm nopt able to get it back.
I still see the folders, but without icons and all are empty...

Any idea how to solve that very very annoying prbl???

Thxs in advance
Ludo

I am facing the same problem. I am using Mandrake 9.2. Why does it remove the menu items? Is this a bug?

Anyway, I tried the 'update-menus -v' but my menus are still missing. This is what I see after running the command. What is wrong?

Try inserting CD1 into the drive and rebooting. When prompted, choose upgrade. This is an alternate fix to the "menus-update -v" command.

Thanks for the suggestions clarks. I did not try what you said but I did get it to work finally. It was a permission issue. When I first installed Mandrake 9.2, I set the security to 'Paranoid' and it won't let a normal user log in.

I remembered that and decided to try lowering the security setting. When I had the menu trouble, it was set to 'highest'. So I set it down a notch to 'higher' and tried the 'update-menus' again and it worked this time!!

I had the same problem - thanks for the fix.

Do we know why this happens? Should I just avoid editing menus? Is there a new version of the editor that doesn't have this problem?

Any advice?

Thanks again.
Mike
