Mandrake 9.2 differences between Download Edition and PowerPack edition
Hi,
Which are the differences between the Mandrake 9.2 Download Edition and PowerPack edition?
When you're installing from PowerPack you have the same linux from Download Edition except that on PowerPack you have some bonus packages ?
I would like if it's possible a generic list of packages (categories of packages) in the 2 versions and if the PowerPack Edition really worth buying it (I would like to buy the PowerPack DVD edition).

the powerpack edition will allow you to install things like java, realplayer and other add-ons whereas the d/l version won't
i had to give up on 9.2 because of this....
incidently where did you get the 9.2 Powerpack version, did they mail it to you ?

in fact I've downloaded the 9.2 as I'm a standard member and as I'm living near Paris in two weeks I can buy the PowerPack DVD edition and I want to know the differences between download edition and powerpackedition.
if the powerpack edition installs the same linux as the download edition and give you some extra things (which you'll have to install them after, as you've said Java, Real Player and so on ...) I'll think about it.
if you're silver member you can download the first 3 extra DCs of the power pack edition, but I'm not so this is why I'm asking, it really worth to buy the pack (with some price advantages if yo're member) or is more interesting to upgrade to silver member and download them. I would like to know those differences and also the differences between packages included in those two versions.

i origionally purchased the professional version, that is, of 9.0 and i must say, it has spoiled me. i think it's like a scene out of "Escape from the planet of the Apes!" if there ever was one.
right now, i'm only tolerating windows b/c i have too, and mandrake 9.1 has me all but dilerious...
for now, i'd strongly recommend you stick with 9.1, as for the differences between standard, power & professional, well more bells and whistles as you might expect but if i had the money, i'd certainly buy the professional version as they boys are really doing a kick ass job and i'd hate to see them go out of business

yes, I've bought the 9.1 download version from the LINUX FRANCE magazine but it has a problem with my hardware. I have a nForce2 mobo and a GeForce FX 5600 Ultra TD video card and the 9.1 crashes after the first boot screen at the install. so as I've read in this forum the 9.2 has a support for this kind of hardware. but with all my respect and the good job that those guys are doing (I hate to see them out of business but the French have a real problem when it comes to manage a businnes - lots of money spent for unimportant things) they hadn't listed the differences between the versions. If powerpack & pro editions are some addons to the download edition (you install the same download edition and you have some extra CDs with stuff) it is a pity. Red Hat makes really a difference between standrard, pro and entreprise edition of their linux and you feel that they worth the money.
if you really want to support Mandrake better buy a membership than their products - this is what they recommends you in the first place!
I'm a member and also want to buy the powerpack and simply want to know if it worth the money.
thanks a lot for the link.
basicly all the pack are based on the download edition and in this stage on the "final" 9.2 I'll better stick to my 9.1 + updates
not worth the money on a bugged beta version now that I've found a fix to my 9.1 version install problem
