Ok, so here's my situation. I downloaded the latest tarball firefox .8 browser from mozilla.org with xft support. I extracted it, ran it, and all is well in the default homepage and in google. The fonts were anti-aliased on those two pages, but on other pages like news.com and cnn.com, it's not anti-aliased. There are some pages where it's a combination of the two. I'm currently running Mandrake 9.2, with KDE, and deselected any Gnome desktop in the installation process. Could this be the cause? I've searched on many forums, and everybody's answer when there's ugly fonts is to get the binaries that support xft, but clearly that's what I got. When I run Konqueror, all those pages mentioned above are all anti-aliased. I have a feeling this is the first time this question is being asked.

This is probably a dumb question, but in your font settings, is it set not to anti-alias at certian point sizes?
