I have a Canon Canoscan FB 630 P scanner. I can only access as root. As user it won't show.
It shows as Canon_PP: OX378. I assume I have to set permissions, but am clueless as to
how to do this. (As you can tell I am green to the world of Linux and I am going through
the tribulations.) Mandrake 10.1 Community.
Distribution: openSUSE 10.3, Yoper Linux 3.0 , Arch Linux 2007.08

I have the same problem with my HP 6200C scanner; have to log in as root to use it. I have resigned myself to doing that for now, but I too would love to hear the answer to this one.
