I know, but still, I'm just saying why even have a rep system at all if it's not going to be used?
Good point. If the positive rep is not being used and the negative rep is being exploited, why have any rep in the first place? For example, if rep goes unrestricted, someone can up-rep someone else just for agreeing with that person. They can also use the rep system to deduct rep for disagreeing. Both such cases would be exploitation of the rep system that in all cases should definitely be *hard-coded* into the LQ Rules.
I say replace the small, obscure Was post helpful ? with a larger Thanks button, maybe Red or vibrant color, not blue, cuz everything is blue in the standard theme.

As the helpful system isn't a "Thanks", we don't plan to do something like this. After the pending code update we'll evaluate ways to make some of the more advanced features at LQ (such as rep and the helpful system) more well known.

So that's where it is hiding!
Seriously, I was trying to figure out how it worked and why mine wasn't higher, given that I frequently am told that my posts are helpful. Geez, in one recent thread, I was tagged five times in a row for having been helpful. But, even as a "senior member", I hadn't taken the time to ferret out what the deal was with rep.
