where should Ndis files go?

Since I installed Ndiswrapper and got my wireless network running, I have left the driver files on the desktop (where I first put them), because I didn't know what else to do with them. Assuming a problem won't occur if I find someplace else to put them, which folder would they properly belong in?

You shouldn't need to put the ndis driver files anywhere in particular. I myself use NDISWRAPPER for my laptop's PCMCIA WiFi adapter. I used the Windows driver though. I never had to shift the files anywhere. I think that the NDISWRAPPER compiles it's own driver from the information contained within the original driver. It then makes a module which you insert into the kernel.

Still trying to figure out how to get the module to start up with the system. For now I "modprobe ndiswrapper" whenever I want to get online.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong?

Wolf see the bottom of this page - start from ndiswrapper -m , http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/m...p/Installation . newbiesforever ndiswrapper creates /etc/ndiswrapper/driver/ which contains driver files it uses. You can save originals wherever you wish as Wolf mentioned.

Are those originals even needed after that?

Not really. I personally archive them on my server though in case I need to reinstall my Linux.

I would recommend saving them for that purpose.

Wow... Thanks for that info, Beagle. I haven't really gotten around to looking for that kind of information yet. Wasn't that important, really.

Very helpful.
