Unable to ping ip address

Hi,

I have configured and build the wireless driver(compat-wireless-2011-08-27) for kernel 2.6.24.3.

Then i connect the USB-wifi-module(ar9271 chip) to my device.
Now i am successfully connected to the my local wireless router and i have manually assign IP to my jz4750 based device.

but i am unable to ping any IP address.here are some output might it will help..

As per the output for all command, i think all things are right and done proper way. so what is the issue?

why i am not ping any IP?
Please help

So, your wireless router is setup for static (fixed) IP?

Can you ping your router? Its address is probably 192.168.0.1

Assuming you can ping the router, then put the address in a web browser and look at the router setup for any clues.

No,router is not setup for static IP.
Forgot that...

If i set my device as router means set AP mode and if i assign IP 192.168.0.1 to it
than it should be work but it's not work.

my hostapd.conf contains

I don't understand this. The IP above is typically the address of the router. You also need to set the router for the devices that will connect to it. If the router is set for DHCP, then the devices must be set that way also.

Can you connect to the router with a direct connection (Ethernet) and/or with another computer?

How do you know this? I don't see any evidence that your wireless driver is actually working (zero RX bytes, for example).

I think the most likely thing is that the driver is not compiled correctly or not configured correctly for your specific card.

Hi SecretCode,

I have compiled the same driver for my Linux PC(Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS) and install it.It works fine in PC for my wireless card.
So i think there is no issue in driver compilation.

there is some hidden thing which i am not able to catchup.

I have enabled the device in master mode and assign the IP to it.so it will work as router(master) and other PC as a client.
there is no Ethernet port on device. if you doubt about AP mode then please go through

Able to connect with router and ping IP
Hi all,

I have tried the another router SSID "myssid2" and Set Encryption key to OFF and fired the below commands one by one.

$ ifconfing wlan0 down
$ iwconfig wlan0 essid myssid2
$ ifconfig wlan0 up
$ udhcpc -i wlan0
After that i am able to PING any PC and vice versa.

But when i set Encryption key to ON for above router then device unable to connect with it.

if shows error like:wlan0 failed to set key

It looks like your wireless encryption settings aren't correct then.

Go to the router and see how it's configured. Should be WPA (not open or WEP) - but note that "WPA" is different from "WPA2" and even from "WPA/WPA2". PSK is different from Enterprise. TKIP is different from AES, etc.

Are you trying to connect to "myessid"? Why does the router have those blank & null SSIDs? If all those ssids are coming from this router, or routers under your control, it would help this diagnosis to remove all the test configs and have only one.

I don't understand why the output for "myessid" shows "encryption key: on" but does not include any encryption methods.

Thanks for your suggestion.now onwards i will use tags around any output.it's really very helpful.

Now, again I configured the Linux for my device with below kernel config settings.

CONFIG_PHYLIB=y
CONFIG_NET_ETHERNET=y
CONFIG_CRYPTO_ECB=y
CONFIG_CRYPTO_AES=y
CONFIG_CRYPTO_ARC4=y
CONFIG_CRYPTO_MICHAEL_MIC=y

and build the wireless driver again, updated my device with new kernel and driver.
Finally it works.....lol.now i am able to connect all the router whether it's Encryption key ON/OFF.
