Installing wireless network card.

Hi, i've been using Debian linux for a good 6 months and I feel pretty comfortable for daily use.

I recently aquired a wireless router for my computer in the living room which already has a network card in use. How would I go about installing a second card which happens to be a wireless NIC.

The wireless card is a Hawking HWP54G.

There are a few sources for installing this card, depending on the chipset it has - typing "lspci" from a console whilst logged in as root should give an indication as to the exact model and the chipset it will be using. http://www.gregrperry.com/blog/2005/...4g-under-linux is a good starting point for getting it running.

ireless cards aren't generally picked up by your system and configured automatically, hence the need to install extra drivers, which can be a struggle at times.

Thanks for the reference, but since I keep blogging on this issue, you can get a better listing of all my posts using this saved search. So far I've focused on FC3 and FC4, but I'll be tackling the installation under SuSE 10.0 next. Hopefully, the documentation will help regardless of the distro. Since I'm a Linux noob, I cover details other noobs might have trouble with. It should also help users with other wireless cards that also use the Ralink RT2500 chipset.

Don't forget to post a comment if my info helps!
