getting hotplug and orinoco card working

Good evening all. I've got a bit of a problem with my orinoco card and slackware 9.1 . First of all during the boot process eth1 tries to get an ip but the wireless card is on eth0 so it doesn't work until I run "dhcpcd eth0" then it works fine. How do I get this to occur automatically during boot? Second problem, after getting the ip everything works fine until I remove the card then when I plug it back in it doesn't work until I run "dhcpcd eth0" again. I installed hotplug durring the slackware install but it doesn't seem to be working correctly. I would appreciate any help you can give this guy . Thank you.

Slackware still doesn't have into it a way to have "iwconfig" commands built into /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.

I always cheat and just put everything I need in order in /etc/rc.d/rc.local

If this is a wide open network though, you should just be able to edit /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 as none of the wireless settings matter. Re-run "netconfig" with the card loaded and it should get applied fine.

/etc/pcmcia/wireless.opts is archaic, but it should have in it a section for a "roll-your-own" entry if you need to apply wireless settings on card load.

Hotplugging is probably working fine, it just loads the driver anyway, it doesn't apply settings to what its loaded. Also, depending on this card, hotplugging may have nothing to do with it as its probably old school pcmcia and in that case cardmgr is doing the loading.

Cheers,

Finegan
