I have a wireless netgear router, I can access it via a normal cable and a friend can use the card in Windows.
The card is a DWL-AG650 and the router a WGT624. I have downloaded madwifi, wireless tools and ndiswrapper. Everything without any errors or such.
I insert the card and run command
cardctl insert
and the card starts one lamp. Then I type
ifconfig ath0 up
and both lamp blink, one after another. This is exactly as in Windows, but in windows it finds the router and both lamps blink at the same time.
Another difference in the lamps is that when it search for a accesspoint, in windows there is a steady blinking, first one lamp, then another. In linux the lamp flicks more, first one lamp, then another, and so on. There is no steady light in Linux. Don't know if that is significiant, but anyway.
The router is using essid "blah" just as a test and I have tried to change to it by typing:
ifconfig ath0 essid blah
btw, here is the info from iwconfig:
Code:
eth0 no wireless extensions.
lo no wireless extensions.

EDIT:
I changed to channel 11 as the router uses and then I got rid of the flicking lights, the lights now looks exactly as in Windows, a steady blinkin, one lamp after another. The only difference now is that in Windows an ap is found. :/
What to do next?
