wine windows folder

I am using wine 20041019 and I cannot get anything good to work. Installed unreal1 but it always crashes when I try to save. Cant install msword from works cd. A few other progs i'd like to use too. so I thought, maybe if I replace the "fake" windows folder with a "real" windows 98 folder i would get better progress with my win apps. No dice, nothing has changed. Is there a way to configure wine to make better use of my "real" windows 98 folder in .../.wine/drive_c
thanks

ln -s ~/.wine/dosdevices/c: /mnt/drive
if there is a c: remove it and create a new symbolic link
