I installed 7-Zip in wine, and it runs fine when I issue the command:
wine /home/myuser/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/7-Zip/7zFM.exe

However, the "normal" ways of running wine programs don't work. Each of the commands below comes back with the error message "Error: nosuchdir '/Program Files/7-Zip'":
wine "C:/Program Files/7-Zip/7zFM.exe"
wine /Program\ Files/7-Zip/7zFM.exe
wine -- "C:/Program Files/7-Zip/7zFM.exe" (this was the shortcut the installer put in my wine start menu)

I know the program is installed at the correct path; see ls output:
[myuser@mycomputer ~]$ ls .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/7-Zip/7zFM.exe
.wine/drive_c/Program Files/7-Zip/7zFM.exe*

Any ideas? Thanks so much! I'm using Mandriva Linux 2005 LE.

use bz2 or tar.gz or straight rar after all hd space is cheap :-)

apart from that maybe try inserting the escape \ before the space in my programs in the commands.

don't you have to cd down to the C directory anyway to run wine commands without the absolute path?

Get a copy of wt2 and use that to set up wine for you...it'll even add a wine section to your programs and add a 'run with wine' thingy to your right-click options.
