the screen goes black & white

Hi, (Fedora9, Firefox 3 Beta 5)

Every now and then (usually when something has been loading for some time in firefox, the screen just freezes and goes black and white, after say 5-8 seconds it returns to the normal state and everything works. Is it a bug or normal behaviour? Is it KDE4, Firefox or compiz-fusion?
regards

Or, is it your graphics card?

Well, if it is my graphics card, then it doesn't get on well with f9...
I've never had it with any other distro that I have tried for the last couple of years.

I asked about the graphics card because you gave no information about it. Since you've been using it for some time, the card should be eliminated from consideration (unless you want to consider the possiblilty of impending failure of the graphics card).

I've not heard of the problem you describe with compriz-fusion, nor with Fedora 9. That leaves only Firefox 3 Beta 5 as the most likely suspect.

Have you tried the firefox support page to see if the problem has been reported by someone else?

FYI, FF3 production release is tomorrow (June 17) http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/technolo...e_june_17.html, so expect an update in the repositories soon after.
