Support for audio codecs in Linux encoding/decoding.

I like to use Amarok as my main media player, but prefer to keep my music encoded in .tta or True Audio. After benchmarking and various other tests, I find it the best lossless codec out there and faster than monkey's audio or .APE files.

I was wondering if anyone new how to encode (compressor decompress).tta audio in Linux and or how to support these files in Amarok or another Linux player?

Any ideas would be greatly received.

ffmpeg has decode support for tta, so mplayer at least should be able to play the files, but it doesn't seem to support encoding. gstreamer also seems to have a plugin for it, but I don't know if it supports encoding either. Some apt searches didn't turn up anything else that clearly supports it, but that doesn't mean there's nothing there.

So at very least you should have playback ability. If you can't find a native Linux encoder, you may be able to get a Windows version to run under wine. I managed to get the Nero .aac d/encode tools to run with it, so it's not too improbable.
