Hello,
I'm playing around with Subversion and focusing on how to back up subversion repositories.
I'm doing this:
Code:
svnadmin dump /path/to/my/repository/ > /path/to/my/backup_svn/repository-`date '+%Y%m%d_%Hh.%Mm.%Ss'`.dmp
and I'm also finding tons of script examples on how to do "backups" but I feel like I'm missing the obvious; the data?
When I review the shell output my command produces, the svnadmin dump looks to me like it is making a backup of the database that exists in a repository. But does this "dump" also capture the binary and text data that has been checked in to a repository?
Or do you have to really do TWO backup processes; one being a directory copy to capture the data, the second being "svnadmin dump blah > blah.dmp" to capture the repository database structure?
Any clarification from someone who administers Subversion would be greatly appreciated!
