Slackware 9.1 - Wireless Internet problem

I am runing a laptop with slackware 9.1 and I can't get either of my PCMCIA Wireless network cards to work. I have a LAN, and I think the problem is that I don't know how to tell the OS to automatically detect the IP address. I put in the ESSID id and the encryption key already, and the network cards have been installed (I think) by the OS. They are both labeled "eth0" by the computer. One card is a cisco aironet 350 and the other is a "Lucent Technologies WaveLAN/IEEE Adapter". I know that both of the cards work fine, so that's not the problem

Thanks in advane,
-JC

I'm running RedHat on my desktop with an Orinoco Silver card (basically the same thing as your Lucent card). Have you tried doing a ping to a known IP address, like Google? (ping 216.239.57.99) At least for me, I've been able to determine that my problem is coming from a DNS configuration error.

Well, you can request an ip address from your dhcp server with dhcpcd eth0 or you can assign a static IP address with ifconfig. If you go the static route, you will also need to set your gateway with the route command.
