Roblems when installing MPlayer ???

hi i got the official release source file and trying to build it. i did

./configure and after
./configure --enable-gui

after second command this error comes :

GUI requires GTK devel packages (which werent found)

i searched in google for gtk devel packages and installed an rpm which was gtk devel static rpm or something like this and still not working.

what should i do?

sentences involving the words "or something like that" never bode well...! a -devel package won't be "static" as it's just text header files, so nothing compield inside it to be static. you've not said what distro you're on so particular files or pointers are a whole lot harder (please fill in the distro box in your profile). assuming you ARE on an rpm based box, try this:
Code:
[root@gonzo root]# rpm -qa | grep gtk
gtk+-1.2.10-22
gtk+-devel-1.2.10-22
gtk2-2.0.6-8
gtk2-devel-2.0.6-8
so here i have the standard gtk+ and gtk2 rpms installed and their matching -devel rpms. you'll be missing the -devel ones.

unless you have already obtained a main rpm from the internet, then the package you need will be on your distribution cd's.
