proftpd auth


Hello,

i just installed proftpd (slack distro) and it works fine my only question is if is it possible to configure proftpd so that no username or password is required to connect to my ftp server as i want my stuff to be public accessible.

Hi,

Normally with FTP if you want stuff to be public accessible you use the anonymous login feature. Although the username and password is required the username is always the word "anonymous" and the password can be anything. As a courtesy it is normally the users email address.

For Proftpd there is the <Anonymous> configuration context. If there are no <Anonymous> sections in your proftpd.conf, then no anonymous logins will be allowed - simple.

hello

i have the <Anonymous> configuration set up the problem was i had to add "AnonRequirePassword off" for my existing anonymous user and now it is working.
