since i don't know the answer i shouldn't respond so forgive ..........
there is an emacs command
(push and release Esc) then x
and type
ps-print-buffer-with-faces
it uses postscript fonts
don't know if that will help ??????
on debian i remember a package
emacs-intl-fonts
that gave international postcript fonts for printing in emacs
i think it is
ftp://prep.ai.mit.edu/pub/gnu/intlfonts/
this is from an emacs announcement:
+ The fonts in the intlfonts distribution are also used by the ps-print
+ package for printing international characters. The file
+ lisp/ps-mule.el defines the *.bdf font files required for printing
+ each character set.
+
+ The intlfonts distribution contains its own installation instructions,
+ in the intlfonts/README file.
