PostgreSQL trying to start?

Hi,
In my roots mail folder i keep getting this message:
Code:
 --------------------- pam_unix Begin ------------------------

su:
   Sessions Opened:
      (uid=0) -> postgres: 144 Time(s)
I'm guessing that the postgreSQL has tried to start up x times today. I use mysql as a database so have never started up postgreSQL. I tried removing the startup script from initd to see if it would stop it from trying to start, but no luck. Is removing the app the only answer?

I have no idea what you're into there, but the title of your post seems right for my problem. I can't create, or access any databases unless I su postgres.
The tutorials are vague about CLASSPATHs and environment set ups. Ex. from a tutorial:

if you get error messages such as

% psql -h localhost template1
Connection to database 'postgres' failed.
connectDB() failed: Is the postmaster running and accepting TCP/IP
(with -i) connections at 'localhost' on port '5432'?

it is usually because

the postmaster is not running, or
you are attempting to connect to the wrong server host.

Uh.. OK, I must be attempting to connect the wrong server host because i started the postmaster as postgres. What does that mean and how can I fix it?

To stop Postfix from from starting up on its own, i had to remove the postfix line in /etc/rc.d
