I have 2hds on my computer. The primary master is set on win2000. I'm using the second hd just for linux. I've formatted the 2nd hd as fat32. I partitioned the 2nd hd into two (half/half) and made the first partition active.HOwever, when I run the Mandrake7.0 cd and the installation gets to the step "partitioning filesystems," an error with the message,
"an error has occured--no valid devices were found on which to create new filesystems. please check your hardware."

I can't figure out the error. Can you help?

update on my problem

I found out that the kernel version in mandrake7.0 might not support the two ATA100 hard drives that i have.

is there anyway to bypass that? or perhaps download something to get aroudn that? I have to use the kernel version in mandrake 7.0 because the instructor requires that.

Can anyone offer help?
thanks!

Not so much help this one, but i'm having the same problem as this(except w/ RH7), but i started asking in the newbie section!
At least I know whats causing it know (having an ATA100 H/D, if i understand what you've written correctly).

Would changing distro's help, or not as aren't they all based on the same kernal?
