New font not selectable in KDE apps.

I installed Pro Font Win and it is excellent. It is a bitmapped editor font, and unfortunately I am unable to use it in the one program (Kate) for which I installed it. I have searched for hours for a solution and have only found methods for dealing with this in earlier versions of KDE. The font does not come up when I run fc-list.

I have turned off AA and have copied this font into /usr/share/fonts. These measures did not help. The font is selectable and works well in non-KDE apps.
