mandrake linux 8,2 install problem


i've downloaded the three ISO images from the mandrake homepage and burned them. but when i try to startup the installation i get the following error:

Kernel Panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 01:03

someone told me to press F1 on the first screen and then type on the prompt: linux mem=128 but when i do that the installation try's to start but suddenly i get a black screen so that doesn't work. Please help me.

my configuration: AMD Athlon 1,1GHz processor, 128 MB RAM (i think it's RAM, or coult it be NRAM??? cause that's what it say's on the startup screen) an a hard disk of 20 GB NOT DIVIDED IN PARTITIONS FOR LINUX YET only one partition on: C:/ (with windows XP installed on)

i hope someone can help cause i really am a

hello again

i've tried to download Red Hat 7,2 an burned it too. but when i start that setup I get an error message like: Kill Kernel or something. so i don't think it depends on which distribution. greetz

hmm... that should be:

linux mem=128m

note the trailing 'm' - hopefully that will work!!

i found it

thanx for the help but i found it i have an video card in my computer so i had to do 128-16-32=84 the 32 is shared memory.
