I tried to install mandrake 8.1, partition magic, with win98. when the network config did it initial installation but the process froze. it froze during "network installation" I couldn't continue the process due to a long period of nothing..I'm running a motorola cable modem. need help....thanks
I think you may have posted this to the wrong part of LinuxQuestions. Mandrake installation problems should probably go to the main Linux Distributions forum section, not the LFS sub-section.
About the problem at hand now, was this during the initial installation ? How are you connecting the cable modem, thru ethernet or usb ? This will help us determine your problem. If you can and its during the initial install of Mandrake, try to skip past the network config and then try to setup your network after the installation of Mandrake, you might have a unsupported ethernet card or if your connecting from the cable modem via usb, there is a slight chance it won't work.
