i have mandrake 9.1 installed in vmware and i'm having problems with the emulated network card that it uses. i have it setup to use a bridged connection. The problem i think is with how linux is detecting the nic. It is finding it as an AMD 79c970 nic and it doesn't work. the actual nic in my computer is a 3com 905b (if it matters, which i dont' think it does) when i install windows i think it detects it as a dec based nic. my question, i guess, is what driver should i tell it to use? is there one i need to download from somewhere? anybody have mandrake9.1 running in vmware wanna help me out?
