Looking for good MP3 Tagger

Hi, as subject says I am looking for a good mp3 tagging program for linux:

1. Freedb or similar online database lookup is REQUIRED. I don't want to type manually.

2. GUI or non-gui does not matter. I prefer if there is a package already for Ubuntu 7.10.

Here is what I tried:

1. EasyTAG

Very nice except one thing. It does not seem to handle Various Artist albums very well. It insists of tagging the Artist field as "VA" which is not intended.

2. lltag

A command line utility which seems nice on paper but the Ubuntu version I have does not support mp3. Does anybody know what I need to install additionally to make it work with mp3 ?

3. Amarok

Does musicbrainz lookup. but apparently I have to do it for each file instead of an album altogether. This will take too long time as I got lots of albums.

4. Picard (musicbrainz)

Don't like the interface , simply

At the first glimpse I would also say EasyTag. It does not require the Artist Tag to be tagged anyway. The small buttons right beside the tag fields tell it to write the same tag to each marked file - may be this hint helps you.

You really scared me at your 3th statement! Amarok as a music tagger... well, I am on the KISS side of the force most times so:

lltag needs mp3info installed for tagging mp3 files as it is a perl script and not a "program" in the "strict" meaning. All that info is in man lltag.

It doesn't do automagically the musicbrainz part, yet. But it's very, very neat and useful for my own purposes.

Regards.
