POS tagger

i need to do a project for POS tagging. I know the basic concept about it but cant start. i am in middle of nowhere tryin to find out where to start and how. Which is the language that i must write it on? and can anyone help me with getting started.

Is that:
Point of Sale?
Piece of S**t?
Partially Ordered Set?
Product of Sums?
Ah! You probably mean Parts of Speech (though it's not the only meaning of POS where tags are used).

Now, what do you want to do? Do you want to tag a word list? A text file? What format (input and output)? What result do you want?

Do you have a database to work with? What format is it in?

How large a dataset are you working with?
