kudzu configuration

When I boot up fedora core 1 and kudzu (1.1.36.1) performs a search for changed hardware, I do not get the graphical prompt asking me whether I'd like to change/save/delete the current hardware configuration even if I have made a change.
The /etc/sysconfig/hwconf file is changed however. How do I set the flag for kudzu to prompt me to make a decision about the hardware changes?

Thanks for any help.

Martin
