I have used convert command to change the format of the images I have from .eps to .jpg. But the quality reduces, what option helps me to keep the high quality of the image I have?
DO NOT USE the "lousy" format .jpg .
use png instead . png is a lossless compressed image format .
Personally i think .jpg should be illegal to use.
Code:
mogrify -format png *.jpg
oh come on, what if you have to send some images over the network that you don't care too much about quality ? PNGs can be much larger than JPGs, and JPGs have reasonable quality if you set the quality to 100%, don't use the standard 90%.
Indeed. As much as I dislike patent encumbered alternatives it's needed.
Imagine a web menu: no one is going to wait 3 minutes to view your fantastic front page made using png images. PNG is plainly incompatible with slow connections. I would like not to use jpeg, but there's no option when you want an acceptable image quality and you have to think about bandwidth. For the rest, png is fine. It would be nice to have a free alternative to jpeg that could be used as a web standard.
