Unhappy KDE wont startup

G'day
I just downloaded Debian 3.0 and installed it. I am having a problem getting KDE to work properly though. I can successfully login using the gnome login manager an the KDE login manager. KDE starts to run... the status gets up to initialising peripherals and then X seems to crash and the login screen is dsiaplyed again... I can login using Gnome but I do not want to use Gnome because I am accustomed to using KDE.
Im clueless about what to do.
Thanks for your help.

Nathan
