The KDE 2006 MDE rpms work quite well and many people on on tis site and Mandriva Club forums have had positive experiences. The KDE 3.4 rpms were the ones that broke many systems, so this time round Thac and Ze have been doing more testing before releasing them to the public.
Cooker is okay if you know how to fix things when they go wrong. I use cooker on my testing machine and when there is heavy development, KDE breaks a lot, which can leave the system unuseable unless you have multiple DEs and wait for a fix for the problem. Soon 2006.1 and another club version are going to be released so there will be a lot of activity in cooker, so its not going to be very stable.
