Updating to kde 3.41 with mandriva 10.2

I am running Mandriva 10.2 with kde 3.3, and i would like to upgrade it to 3.41, nut how do i do this. Is it in an rpm or an install file? or is more complicated than that?
I am still learning linux so please be as decriptive as possible, thanks.

hi fred.

I got the same thing, I can't wait for MDK 11.2 to come out, I want it now

I'd suggest *NOT* to take thac's RPMs...

I suggest you go to KDE.org , fill all the required dependencies described there, download konstruct, follow the instructions, build and install in your home directory, then test it.

If it works, I'd then suggest to install it in /usr/local/kde3.4 ...

I posted in one of my threads on how to make GDM and KDM show another Windows Manager as an option:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...hreadid=203434

if you have MDK 10.2, dont bother installing and making QT, you probably already have the right version... when you fill the dependencies by installing the RPMs, don't forget to also install the development packages...

e.g.
lame
lame-devel

hope all goes well for you. I'll be trying it myself here soon, when the time comes, and post my success

Under FC3 I've had problems with the install after downloading kde 3.4.1. I put it on a machine that is infrequently used. I didn't want to mess up my heavy use linux machines.

There are lots of sig dev 11 error on launch and exit. Various problems with the kdm, and alot of other very annoying things.

For a program that is supposedly just a bunch of fixes they seem to have created alot of problems.

Well, at least they got the screensaver to work again.

I never had problems with screensaver before. I have heard people complain it was unstable... hey... too bad...

I don't know quite what to say, maybe if it doesnt work for you, maybe you should wait for the next distro release

someone has an idea?
