how to specify to lilo a boot option before rebooting
You may want to move this to the mandriva forum. I put it here because its more about lilo and rebooting than anything mandriva specific.
In Mandrake (and now Mandriva) there is a method in kdm (is it?) to reboot, in which it gives you the lilo labels to choose from. Then, you can select and option to reboot into...
for example, I have Mandake 10.1 and Windows on my desktop, from login manager, I select "Reboot", "WinXP", then another "Reboot" button and the computer reboots into windows. I have VNC installed on windows and can then VNC in, do what I need to do, and then reboot, and lilo will default back into Mandrake.
My problem is...
I have no way to tell linux I want it to boot into windows, remotely, only once.
VNC on linux wouldn't help, because when you log into VNC, logs you into kde automatically and the same option doesn't exist under the K Menu. I could over-write the lilo default to windows, but then I wouldn't be able to get back into linux afterwards. I'm hoping someone out there can inform me about some kind of command and appropriate options to reboot into windows from a command line, remotely. Or, if there is a way to get VNC to just take you to the login manager.
