Has anyone managed to get GStreamer working with amaroK on SuSE 9.3? I've installed the GStreamer plugin rpms and the GStreamer engine for amaroK and I can enable the engine ok in amaroK, but when I try and play a track, GStreamer complains that it can't find the audioconvert plugin. gst-inpsect doesn't find it either...
Fixed it. It looks like Guru's RPMs were a wee bit out of date and YaST had some newer ones. Serves me right for not checking YaST in the first place, I suppose.
Also recommended after installing GStreamer you should register it's components:
running: 'su -c gst-register-0.8' should take care of registering your GStreamer components.
DESCRIPTION
gst-register is a tool that is used to register all the GStreamer plug-ins on your system. It creates a listing of their properties such that on startup of GStreamer based application do not need to load plugins until they need them.
Yeh, I tried running that a couple of times as my normal username. Interestingly, the gst-register program doesn't seem to be in root's path on my machine.
Also, the SuSE rpms don't seem to have come with any mpc support - when I try and add an mpc file to amaroK's playlist, it tells me that the media could not be played. If I change engine to arts, the same files play fine. Output of $gst-inspect | grep *mpc* gives:
The amaroK developers answer questions here on a regular basis. There's a guy named Markey who is really awesome. Post your questions here. If they can't answer them, they will hook you into the folks at gstreamer.
