Im not sure if the fault is with a command line im not giving the program or in the compile but anyway, every time
I start up gmplayer like so: gmplayer -dvd 1 -alang en -slang en -dvd-device /mnt/cdrom, I recieve no error, however, the program hangs and when I press enter it does nothing, but when I exit the shell I get a fatal error
like the following:

MPlayer interrupted by signal 1 in module: unknown

And incase you havent noticed I am a .

I have been a windows weenie since I was five years old and I am trying to switch over.

If you want the GUI, have you tried to just run gmplayer then when it comes up or if it comes up, open or select what file/device you want to play from ?

shouldn't that be set to something like /dev/dvd or /dev/hdc depending on which device points to your dvd player. You shouldn't mount the dvd when trying to play the dvd in mplayer. If you have the link /dev/dvd pointing to the right location then the -dvd 1 option should be enough.

I tried running only gmplayer, but it still hangs and no gui comes up.
