fresh install of mandriva2008 but showing x11 error when playing video

Hi
I am new user of linux
mplayer videofile

x11 error: Badalloc showing this error playing only audio

ofcourse i know about mplayer -vo x11 filename

but i wish to play with mplayer filename only is there any way
please help me
