If you can boot your Linux system from a floppy, you can then install LILO in the MBR. Running the liloconfig script (with Slackware) will create a basic lilo.conf file, to which you can add necessary options with vi
. The problem is figuring out what these options are. I'd try lba32 right away; if that doesn't work I'm out of ideas, but I'm pretty sure you can get it working with a lot of reading and persistence. Good luck.
