If you want to, you could try to load into another DE, or use command line to change some settings, possibly re-install KDE.

I just decided to go back to the 2005 version until the kinks can be worked out, so for now i need to find out how to update KDE and my kernal. If you can help with that it would be great.

Updating KDE should be pretty easy. You can just get an rpm and update, or kill the old, and install fresh. 3.4.3 isn't really all that much more hot that I can tell over 3.4.2, but if you have something like 3.3, than 3.4 is a big improvement, including load times.

I am working on learning the kernel compliation stuff myself. The basic part was easy enough, http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...9&goto=newpost and it worked without a hitch. As for the more advanced details, I am not there yet either.

I think it was a problem with kat. You could have just uninstalled that and I am sure KDE would have worked. Reinstalling could have worked as well.
