Day light savings time issues

Hey guys,

Will we run in to problems with the whole Day Light Savings time being changed 3 weeks ahead?

Is there any updates for Suse or Red Hat OS's?

Thanks guys.

Have a look at this thread as it discusses DST at length:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=518752

Summary of main points:

You need to update the OS timezone information.

You need to update Java timezone information. (Java doesn't use the OS timezone information).
-Java 1.4.x can be updated with the tzupdater tool from Sun.
-Java 1.3.1-x needs to be upgraded to at least 1.3.1-18.
Late breaking news: Sun has come out with an updater for 1.3.1 on Solaris. HP has a similar update for HP-UX.

RedHat does have pages for their supported releases that discuss what you need to do at the OS level. For Java they refer you to Sun. The page for RedHat AS3 is:

http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/FAQ_79_9950

Likely Suse has similar information on their site - it may be somewhere in the above thread. The above thread tells you how to do it manually on any unsupported Linux you may have.

In the thread referenced above, scroll down to response #5 by Brydon. It has excellent instructions that I used to update my SuSE 9.3.
