Ok i finally go around to setting up my printer. But when im in cups and i go to printer test page. It works fine but the it squeeses everything into half the page and i noticed that the right side is cut off. So I went into configure Printer under cups and check it there it says letter size of paper and on the box on the paper it says 8.5' * 11' LETTER SIZE so the default size is Letter so i left that alone so i didnt change anything left it all default. Went into Mozilla and tried to print off a page throught there changed that paper size to 8.5' * 11' tried to print again and same thing happend!!!! I dunno what else to do?? Do i have to restart after probably not but just checking Thanx and PLEASE HELP ME!!!! i have a important papper due tuesday Thanx for your help!!!!
There's a nifty little program out there, called "print tool". It uses lpr instead of CUPS and its really userfriendly. Has its own free drivers.
I know this doesnt solve your CUPS issues, but if you have a paper due, it might be worth a try changing printerdeamons and seeing how the lpr drivers perform.
I can only find redhat and debian Packages not even a source pkg?? I tired the debian source but its not working so if anyone knows how to fix my cups issues and or find me a source pkg THANX thank-you for your reply and help!
It could also be the printer driver you chose, if it matches your printer you might have to look at resolutions the printer driver uses and change the resolution. Unfortunately I can't help any further then this since I use Fedora and they have their own printer configuration program.
Yes i do use localhost:631 thats the one im using now. The resolution is set to 360*360dpi?? I dunno im going to try to switch my driver hopefully that will make a difference thanx for your replys if anyone else knows what i could try please help me yes i did try sourceforge.net and it finds printer configuration but its for windows or something like thgat not printtool!!
Thanx!!!!!
Anyone??? i tried changing my res. It made the test page look alot better with more colour and brighter but still the same size i tried changing the paper size in there and it doesnt seem to do anything??? I dunno what else do to??? Does anyone know of a good Print program?? im going to do some searching but if anyone can help me PLEASE!!!!!
Could you please tell me what type of printer do you have, dot matrix, ink or laser, brand, driver you are using, version of cups, etc. with that info we might figure something out, also if you could post an image of the printout somewhere so I can take a look at it and give you some recomendations.
Ok im trying to set up my Canon i470D using gimp-print v4.5.2 driver S4500 I hope that helps alittle I also tried turboPrint if anyone has heard of it?? And anyways it does the same thing as Cups with half the page and cuts off abit of the right side. The only difference if theres this big water mark where the cups logo use to be. And with turboprint its there all the time. Until you pay!!!!! Also im using Cups v1.1.19 Hmmm about the showing you the page ill see what i can do. I dont have a scanner so maybe ill just try taking a pricture of it with my digital Camera im not sure if that would work but ill try it and tell you what i get! Thanx for your Help!!1
Have you tried the BJC800 driver this is the driver I am using for my Canon i550, and it works well. Give that a try, I found it under BJC-7100 I believe.
Ok i got Good News and i got Bad News ok the Good news first Your a genius!! That driver worked i can see the whole test page. The Bad News it that i can only print out that test page, like before i could print from Mozilla without a problem now nothing happens!!! Do you Know why this would Happen??? Because i sure as hell DONT!@!!1 Thank-you For your Help!!!!!
Okay, well at least we are one step ahead, okay when you changed your printer driver did you just change the driver or create a new printer? If you created a new printer I would make sure that it is the default. Once we know that the printer is the default then open up Mozilla click on file-->print and make sure that it says to use the post script/default printer. Then once you are sure on these two points try to print from Mozilla again, you may have to close Mozilla then restart mozilla.
lol hehe ya i did exactly what you just said and yes i just did modify printer i didnt make a new printer i restarted Mozilla still nothing and i even tried restarting my computer!!! It is set to the postscript/default printer. I also tried using other programs such as Netscape abiword. And nothing!!!Thank-you
