Help printer from a samba shared printer from linux (using cups)
I have a linux samba server and I am having problems printing from a shared samba printer from my linux machine (using cups). When I go to add a cups printer through the web browser, I go to add a printer, enter the name of the printer, select samba as device, i then enter in "smb://jesse-server/HPDeskJet3740" then hit continue. I select hp then select hp deskjet series cups v1.1 (en) as the driver then hit continue. It then shows the printer has been added successfully. The printer status shows "idle, accepting jobs" and when i click on "print test page" nothing happens. It does even show it in the active jobs list. When I go to the completed jobs list it shows it shows the state as "canceled at (date)". SO, would anyone know what would be causing this problem? Thanks for the help, sorry for the long post..
hey, I am trying to print from a linux machine, not Windows. I can print fine from a Windows machine. I know it sounds silly but I am trying to go samba to samba with linux machines.

i dont believe you need to go samba to samba.......just use the IPP protocol.......CUPS is already a server so samba is just duplicating and slowing down the data transfer process...
