Create mp3 from audio-cd´s

Hi,

I use Debian Sarge (kernel 2.6.6-1).
Is there a good prog to create mp3-files out of audio-cd´s?

Go to synaptic package manager and search for "Description and Name" as "CD ripping"

There will be quite a few options. Some of the results I got are:

grip, jack, goobox, ripperx

OK, I got it.

I downloaded the lame mp3 encoder...

It works fine.

Looks like you already found LAME. That's my tool of choice.

I had to look for a while until I found the lame encoder...
but I found it :-)

It works very fine except one thing:
The file (encoded with lame) needs a lot of disk space in comparison to the same file encoded with oggfile f.e.

lame can be configured to encode with lower bitrate. if i recall correctly, use parameter -b 128 (for 128kbs)
