Compiz stopping flash controls working

Until recently I had got rid of Compiz in favour or Gnome shell to increase performance as my on board Radeon was struggling to cope.

I now have aq shiny new Nvidia 9800GTX so I thought I'd start using Compiz again (I'm still a sucker for the eye candy!). Since then I have been unable to get the buttons/controls on flash site (like bbc iplayer, homestarrunner etc) to work, when I click on them nothing happens at all. If I stop Compiz all works fine.

I am sure this is a simple config issue but not sure what! can anyone shed any light?

(My box is AMD64 2.2GHz 1.5GB ram with above mentioned Nvidia gpu running Ubuntu Karmic)
