cannot install printer driver

I'm trying to install my lexmark Z35 in RH9 it's saying i'm missing the file "libslang.so.1" i've talked to lexmark and although they said the driver SHOULD work they will only support RH up to ver. 7
any suggestions?

Since the printer was cheap are there other brands that are more Linux friendly?
